David has retired from a career in architecture where he was heavily involved in designing buildings with social purpose.
He too, is one of the original trustees and so has a long standing interest in the development of the charity. His experience of hospice design began in the early stages of development in this country, when there was no established model of what a hospice building should be in order to cater for the particular aspirations of the growing hospice movement. Subsequently, over the intervening period, David has designed a range of buildings to deliver the wide span of provision now accepted to be essential to hospice care. Although David’s expertise is in building design, he is a very supportive trustee in that he looks carefully at detail and is a critical friend.
