You can support a student by offering a work experience placement at your business. The placements are usually from 10am until 2pm for one day a week for up to 6 weeks but this can be adapted to suit your organisation’s needs. The students have 1:2:1 support from school, we will do the risk assessment and offer you support throughout the placement.
As an avid supporter of our Work Experience Project, Mal, the owner of The Grinning Gecko on Highfield Road regularly has a student on placement from Sam’s Place. Mal said that the reason he likes to support this project is because he believes “It’s important to give people a chance” and having his own business has given him the opportunity to do this.
If you’re not able to provide a work placement for one of our students, you can still support our RISE project in several ways:
“It was such a lovely experience meeting the young people from RISE when they visited DWP at Warbreck House selling their products. The variety of products available was great and the young people took such great pride in showing you what they had made.”
“When paying they were supported in calculating totals and the interaction they had with DWP colleagues will hopefully give them confidence and build their life skills. I hope the opportunity arises in the future for them to visit again. This is a great charity supporting young people.”
“Lots of nice handmade gifts on offer and nice talking to the children who made them.”
“I think RISE have only been to Warbreck House twice and I have been on both occasions and bought items. I love the seasonal gifts and it would be nice if RISE could arrange to come into Warbreck House on a more regular basis. I know my colleagues would all buy gifts and support the charity if the chance is there.”
“Please can I have another student? They worked harder than our own staff”
“Excellent support team, a pleasure to work with”
“What a great opportunity to give a student and build more knowledge ourselves”
